Dr. Suzanna Bortz still can't decide if it's more fun to teach or to learn. Currently, a Title I reading interventionist at Journey Charter School, she's also taught special education, dual immersion, and bilingual classes. Suzanna's life as a teacher was realigned when two mothers enlightened her about dyslexia's impact on their children's lives. She discovered 1 out of 5 people have dyslexia, effective instruction is available, but not usually offered in schools. Now Orton Gillingham trained and with advanced certification in the Barton Reading and Spelling System, Suzanna focuses on students (of all ages) with dyslexia. When not teaching she enjoys reading, walking, watching mysteries with her husband, and volunteering with the family therapy dog.
